On the 15th of June 3 bands – the participants of the festival arrived by air through Warsaw to Minsk:

“Lucy-In-The-Sky” (Germany)

“Mal Evans Memorial Band” (The Netherlands)

“The Prellies” (Great Britain) and Mr Brian Bennett - Her Majesty’s Ambassador to Minsk

From cool Europe the musicians got into a hot Belarus influenced not by the weather but Beatles’ atmosphere .

The 16th of June. Minsk. Early morning. Musicians, guests and easy friends from Moscow, Saint Petersburg and Samara arrived to the railway station.

Everybody went to Logoysk where in the Alpine skiing complex was installed the stage with tents and umbrellas around.
Heat. +30.

After sound  check the festival started at 14.30h.

At once we noticed that this year the spectators were more than last years – about 10 000 people. It makes happy and inspired.

The festival was opened by Belarussian guitarists Vladimir Tkachenko and Victor Molchanov recently named duet “Double Fantasy”.

The songs “My Love” and “Band of The Run” which made ready and performed specially to the Birthday of Paul McCartney were not indifferent to anybody. The show of this duet was perfect.

Next on the stage appeared “high blond in normal shoes”, a musician from Saint Petersburg Leonid Tihomirov.

He forced the people to sing with him by guitar. For “Yellow Submarine” by guitar and horn (clarion) - my personally “Thank you very much”  and storm of applause  from the audience.

Then the landing of musicians from Saint Petersburg on the Belarussian stage continued. It was the band “Putin’ On The Beatles Style” under the direction of my good friend Alexey Lyamin. At this festival they raised the lath of performance of the Beatles’ music very high. All the people came closer  the stage to see the musicians and inhale the Beatles chords which reached their ears.

Accordion player Oxana shone with joy during her performance of Beatles’ melody and her energy passed to all participants.

Instrumental music – and how it excites everybody!

And  now on the stage are genuine rock and roll musicians from Great Britain. It is the band “The Prellies”. In the leather jackets – in spite of Belarussian heat. But image is image.

The first rock and roll players literally detonated the audience. Everybody started to dance.

And rock and roll players continued.

Englishmen played also strongly and confidently the composition from the last album of Paul McCartney “Dance Tonight”. After the show of this band the spectators didn’t let go the musicians from the stage for a long time. They   applauded and cried “Prellies”. Behind the stage the people were standing in line to get autograph by the musicians.

Necessary tone to the festival was assigned.

After active rock and roll compositions the participant of all previous forth festivals – the band “Back From The USSR”- under the direction of Valery Yarushin supported the audience.

Soloist Alena Yarushina took cold but summoned her strength and performed a lot of Beatles’ songs with inimitable charm.

With high music “Oh Darling” Alena subjugated all the spectators once again.

Then the musicians from the Netherlands “Mal Evans Memorial Band” appeared on the stage.

It is an ace-high team where the drummer a pretty girl Janneke is.

The band amazed during the performance of Beatles’ songs everybody with accuracy, coherency and professionalism. The songs from album “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Heart Club Band”  reminded us of nostalgia (you know that on the 1st of June  40 years have passed since this album was published)

Thanks to musicians from the Netherlands who heartily likes creative works of the Beatles and they gave us possibility to touch the legend.

After Dutchmen our band “V.S.O.P” appeared on the stage.

Beatles’ songs and compositions from solo works of Paul McCartney sounded in a new fashion with hard rock tinge. A lot of people appreciated long compositions by a solo guitar.

Well done! It is one more vision of Beatles music.

And at that time came near Logoysk dark rain clouds. We were nervous. And not in vain because during the show of the next participant from Russian city Samara  Valery Shtchegin was raining cats and dogs.

It was pleasant that in spite of rain a lot of people were standing near the stage and singing together with this musician who played on Russian national instrument balalaika the real beloved masterpieces of the Beatles.

The rain was very strong but short – only 15 minutes. But nevertheless it flooded the main panoramic acoustics. The show continued only by means of monitor sound and acoustics of the second line. The sound was reduced from 35 till 2 kilowatt. Of course it was not enough for such stage.

German band “Lucy-In-The-Sky” in spite of technical  problems (defects) decided to continue the show and put in this performance so much energy that the crowd felt this “drive” and returned its feelings.

The song “Hey Jude” were heard for a long time. Everybody was singing it together with the musicians. After the performance the spectators expressed thanks to musicians for their professionalism and courage. A lot of people wanted to be photographed with German musicians.

Of course, my idea to finish the festival with the performance of young Belorussian band  “Artefact” can be appreciated in different ways. I personally was thinking about it within some months but I decided to do just so. Because of rain their program was reduced. But they were preparing this performance for a long time and made an excellent show. It was their first appearance on the stage and I trust these boys. I believe that they will gain a lot of hearts and we all shall be proud of them.

Who likes to see and appreciate the talent of young musicians may visit our club evening party which be held on the 08th of July in our Beatles café.

Georgy Koldun came on my request for some minutes to perform one splendid final song of Paul McCartney “Freedom”. Nice song – excellent performance.
